MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR THE POSITION OF PATROL OFFICER OR CORRECTIONS OFFICER
1. The Warren County Sheriff's Office is a civil service agency. Appointment to a full-time position in the office shall be made from an eligible list which has been established by competitive examination.
2. An applicant must be a citizen of the United States, be at least 20 years of age at the time of appointment, be of good moral character, possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and submit to a physical examination.
3. Applicants are required to present themselves for an oral interview. The interview shall be evaluated based upon a defined set of personal attributes, and such evaluation shall be on a uniform set of questions.
4. The applicant shall sign waivers for the release of records on education, medical records and history, mental health records and history, criminal history, military service, work performance, financial stability and other information deemed necessary by the Sheriff for a thorough and complete investigation.
5. The applicant must make themselves available for fingerprints and photos to be used for an inquiry on criminal records.
6. Applicants are required to successfully complete an emotional stability and psychological fitness examination prior to appointment. Failure to pass this examination is an automatic bar to any further consideration.
7. All applicants are subject to a background investigation.
8. The Sheriff shall review applicant background investigations and the applicant's position on the eligibility list. The Sheriff will then terminate the application or make an appointment to fill an existing vacancy.
