The New Warren County Public Safety Building and Correctional Facility

The new Warren County Correctional Facility has a capacity of 186 inmates and employ's 75 correctional staff members.  The correctional staff members are sworn New York State Peace Officers and receive state mandated training and instruction in all phases of corrections.  In addition to correctional staff, there are four cooks operating the kitchen and two support staff members in the correction administration office.

The primary function of the Correction Division is the care, custody and control of those individuals committed to the facility.  Persons who a court has deemed to be a threat to the community or a flight risk may be committed to the facility until the completion of their court proceedings.  In addition those persons sentenced to a term of one year or less are committed to the facility by both local and superior courts.

The current facility was opened in October of 2004.  As of November 2009, 8,440 individuals have been admitted to the facility.
