Captain Michael T. Gates - Division Commander

The correctional facility has a capacity of 186 inmates and employ's 75 correctional staff members.  Staff members are sworn New York State Peace Officers and receive state mandated training and instruction in all phases of corrections.  In addition to correctional staff, there are four cooks and two support staff for the administration office.

The primary function of the Correction Division is the care, custody and control of those individuals committed to the facility.  Persons who a court has deemed to be a threat to the community or a flight risk may be committed until the completion of their court proceedings.  In addition, those persons sentenced to a term of one year or less are committed to the facility by both local and superior courts.
