Warren
County is a tourist community centered around the Lake George, New York
Area. The year-round population is just over 66,000 residents. During the
summer the population figures climb to well over 250,000. The primary
sources of income are tourism and light industry. The county encompasses
eleven towns, one city and one village.
Each of the four seasons in Warren County provide their own drawing card to
the tourism trade. The fresh water lakes are a strong influence on the
summer business and the Adirondack Mountains provide a winter playground for
snowmobiles, skiers and mountain climbers. Barely a week goes by without
some special event in the county. We host national endeavors - such as the
Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival, E.S.T.R.A Tow Truck Show, Adirondack
Nationals Car Show and the Americade motorcycle rally - along with a number
of regional and local affairs which are recognized state-wide.
In addition to state mandated responsibilities for operating a county
correctional facility and a civil office, the Sheriff's Office has a very
strong police presence in the county. The 911 Communications Center and
countywide emergency communications facilities are under the immediate
control and supervision of the Sheriff.
The office is structured around three divisions (Administrative Services,
Law Enforcement and Correction). The Law Enforcement Division includes both
Criminal Investigations, Patrol Services and the Communications Center.
Patrol Services has several specialized units that operate under the
direction and control of the Division Commander.
